ABOUT YARRA TENNIS COACHING

Yarra Tennis Coaching has been the official coaching provider at Eaglemont Tennis Club since 2002.

In that time it has grown to be one of the most established and respected tennis coaching programs in Melbourne, with Head Coach Shane Scrutton recipient of both the TCAV and Tennis Victoria Club Coach of the Year awards. Scrutton has combined his teaching and coaching experience to develop a coaching program (and style) based on progressive improvement and, above all, a positive learning environment of encouragement and support.

Yarra Tennis has also developed an exceptionally player pathway program with Eaglemont Tennis Club, with many juniors from the coaching program going on to play club junior competition, junior pennant, Tennis Victoria Winter pennant and even the US college system.

Yarra Tennis Coaching has also participated in the Sporting Schools program at local schools in the community for the past 7 years, offering tennis to children in primary school an introduction to tennis.

YTC also offers apprenticeships and work experience to students interested in gaining coaching experience.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY

The focus of Yarra Tennis Coaching is, and always has been, to develop a program that's based on hard work, positive feedback, a fun and challenging learning environment where improvement is paramount, and a program that keeps people eager to play and eager to learn.

The player I want to develop is a player who is antifragile - a player who works on their game consistently, who is not afraid to take risks, who loves the challenge and can not only handle disappointment, but can learn from it and become a stronger competitor.
