Eaglemont Tennis Club is the premier junior tennis club in Melbourne’s North East, with 25 representative teams in 2017 Saturday morning NEJTA junior competition.
These teams cater for all standards and for players aged 6-18.
Yarra Tennis Coaching’s junior pathway program has contributed significantly to the success of the club by developing juniors to the level where they can play club competition.
All of our participants in the coaching program are strongly encouraged to participate in this club competition as a means of improving their tennis.

What are the benefits?
Junior competition is a great way to meet new friends and improve your tennis! All participants in the coaching program are encouraged to play competition for the club once they are at a suitable age and standard.
For parents too, it’s a social occasion to watch their children compete in a friendly environment.
At what age should children start playing junior competition?
Players need to be at a standard where they can rally consistently at a soft to medium pace from the baseline and be able to get most of their serves in.
If you aren’t sure please contact one of the coaching staff who will be able to assist.
Will I play against children of a similar standard?
All players and teams are graded so that you will be placed into a team of players of a similar standard, against opponents of a comparable level. If you can’t score you can learn as you go and parents and other players are there to assist.
How much does it cost?
There is a nominal fee for junior club membership and ball money for the season but in comparison to other sports it represents excellent value.
What do parents do?
Usually one parent is allocated the job of team manager, which means organising who is playing during the day of each match, and transportation to and from clubs is usually shared amongst parents of players. Parents also help out with scoring if players are unsure.
What are the times and am I required to play every week?
Singles teams will commence matches at 8 am (estimated finish by 11am) and doubles team commence at 9:30 am (estimated finish by 12 noon). Teams will comprise of 5-7 players which means that players will be rotating throughout the season and you will not be required every week.
