Do I need to be a member of the club to participate in coaching lessons?

No. While the aim of our coaching program is to get as many players as possible to play for Eaglemont Tennis Club, there is no requirement to be a club member to participate in coaching lessons. Having said that, the large majority of players we coach do end up becoming members (especially in the case of juniors who progress to the stage where they can play junior competition). And considering that the current cost (2019) of an adult membership is $170.00 PER YEAR (which gives you full access to the club’s 10 courts at any time) tennis club membership is about the most inexpensive sporting membership you can find. And our courts are some of the best-maintained anywhere in Melbourne (Kooyong’s are ok too but I find them a bit slippery).

What happens in inclement weather?
Tennis is an outdoor sport so you are going to get the good with the bad (especially in Melbourne). Luckily we have a combination of en-tou-cas and synthetic clay courts at Eaglemont Tennis Club which means that even after a massive downpour, coaching classes can still be run. Having said that, it’s not a lot of fun if you’re playing tennis in the rain, so if conditions deteriorate, coaching classes can be cancelled (and the same for excessive heat or lightning). In case of cancelled lessons due to wet weather or extreme heat, all coaching participants will be notified by text or email. Extra lessons are held for all missed lessons due to inclement weather during the term (at times to be notified)

Coaching Fees

When are coaching fees due?

All students who enrol mid-term will have coaching fees applied on a pro-rata basis.  Please note that no refunds are provided for students who withdraw from classes once the term has commenced, and no credits are provided for missed lessons.

Missed Lessons due to sickness or emergency

In case of missed lessons due to sickness or emergency please contact Head Coach Shane Scrutton to organise extra lessons during the term.

What matchplay opportunities are there?

We provide many matchplay programs for juniors and adults to choose from. For juniors starting out, we provide 2 internal matchplay competitions to choose from – the Friday night singles matchplay program, and the Sunday morning doubles competition.
